Fayetteville/Cumberland County Juvenile Restitution Program

[Product Image]
Teaching youth responsibility and accountability.

Youth, too often, give into peer pressures and become involved in activities that are considered anti-social and ultimately promotes delinquent behavior. A large number of these youth are then referred to Juvenile Court because of some crime committed.

The Juvenile Restitution Program of Fayetteville and Cumberland County is a sentencing alternative for youth. The goal of the program is to teach accountability and responsibility to the youth referred to the program to avoid any further court involvement. The program staff accomplish this goal through effective instruction of life/job skills which positively effects the youth’s self confidence, instills respect for others and their rights as well as an inward strength to become productive youth in the community .

Program staff locate work sites for the youth to fulfill their court ordered community service requirements. All work sites are professional, non-profit organizations. The program offers adult supervision for youth at all worksites. The program staff teach the youth good work attitudes, cooperation, following instructions and rules, reaching full achievement at the worksite, being polite to all adults and peers, proper dress for the worksites, and the importance on arriving to the worksite on time. Agencies that partner with the program to offer professional worksites include: Parks and Community Centers, Fayetteville Police Department and the Botanical gardens among other agencies and locations.

This program operates under the leadership of Lee Nichols and Lt. Sherry Sparks -- the agency home for the program is the Fayetteville Police Department under the City of Fayetteville. You may contact them at: Lee Nichols  (910)433-1020, Lt. Sparks (910) 433-1910 for more information.
